Do It Again This Week

Good morning. Let’s start with a bit of math. We started yesterday with 55 quilts waiting for a turn on the longarm. Three more quilt tops from the National Quilting Day event came in yesterday to boost the total to 58. I quilted two yesterday afternoon, so we now have 56 quilt tops in line.

I intended to do three yesterday, but we had a bit of a problem with one of the quilts. Judi and I had to pick out the stitches for one row because of tension issues. I’m quilting these quilts in three passes, so that means we removed one-third of the stitches on that quilt. That took a while. Judi was under the table pulling out stitches from the bottom as I worked the top. Few words were spoken. Which is probably a good thing … for me.

When we did the weekend summary, we counted 20 quilts completed since last Monday. That’s pretty good. Or at least I thought so.

“Okay,” she said, “now we know what the likes of you can do. Do it again this week,” she said. “Show me that last week wasn’t just a fluke.”

Bummer. I just looked at the forecast for the week. Sunny. Highs near 70 on Wednesday and Thursday. Instead of a stroll through the neighborhood marveling at signs of new life, I’ll be in the cellar trying like crazy to disprove a fluke.

Hi, my name is Keith and I’m a quilter. I have 27 days to quilt 56 quilts.
