Judi and I decided to do Christmas in July when we realized that we had three 16x22x11-inch totes and two 16x22x6-inch totes filled with Christmas fabric–most of it received as donations. Well, July stretched into Christmas in August too. Here’s what we accomplished.
We made 38 throw-size quilts that will be distributed around Thanksgiving time to residents in a low-income senior adult residential center. I estimate that we used about 125 yards of fabric and almost a full 30-yard roll (90 feet) of 90-inch batting.
Judi has consolidated the remaining Christmas fabric into one 16x22x11-inch tote, one 16x22x6-inch tote, and one shoebox-size tote for the scraps.
And now we return to making quilts for Project Linus.
It’s been more than a year-and-a-half since we organized a sewing popup. The next one may be coming in early 2022. Stay tuned.
